Johns Hopkins University Whiting School of Engineering offers both a Master of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering (online/part-time) and a Master of Science in Engineering (on-campus, research-centered). The programs provide a comprehensive foundation in core areas like electromagnetics, signal processing, electronics, computing systems, and controls. Specializations are available in areas such as AI and Data Science, Photonics, Computer Engineering, Image Processing, Control Systems, and more. Graduates are prepared for advanced roles in industry or further research. The M.S.E. program is full-time and offers both coursework and thesis/project options, requiring 8–10 graduate-level courses plus a seminar and an optional thesis or project. The online/part-time program has similar academic rigor, offering flexible scheduling for working professionals, with concentrations available in communications, photonics, and more. Both programs require a strong background in mathematics, physics, and basic engineering.
