The Master of Science in Space Systems Engineering at the Johns Hopkins Whiting School of Engineering—offered online through the Engineering for Professionals (EP) division—prepares students to become technical leaders in the aerospace industry. The curriculum provides an in-depth foundation in systems engineering approaches for space missions, including spacecraft design, subsystem integration, mission analysis, and operations. Courses are taught by leading experts from across the space community, including the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory. The program features core coursework in systems engineering methodology, satellite subsystem design, and a required hands-on capstone with a laboratory component. Students may further tailor their degree with electives such as space weather, avionics, and electro-optics, and all course material emphasizes application to real-world space missions. The capstone includes a residency weekend in Baltimore to complete the laboratory requirement.
