The MHS in Health, Behavior and Society at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health is a STEM-designated advanced research degree. Designed for students with backgrounds in social/behavioral sciences or public health, this program provides deep interdisciplinary training in the theory and methods for understanding how social factors, behaviors, and public health intersect. It emphasizes skills in research design, data analysis, health communication, and behavioral interventions to address contemporary health problems and health disparities. Students engage in coursework, seminars, independent study, and complete a mentored research project and a culminating master's thesis in original research. Graduates are prepared for roles in public health research, policy, education, or to pursue further doctoral study.
