The MBA/MS in Applied Economics Dual Degree at Johns Hopkins University Carey Business School allows students to harness the complementary nature of business and economics, earning two distinct master's degrees—an MBA and an MS in Applied Economics—through an integrated curriculum that reduces duplication and time-to-degree. All MBA courses are delivered online (asynchronous or synchronous), with optional on-site classes in Baltimore or Washington, D.C. Students learn practical business and analytical skills preparing them for careers at government agencies, financial institutions, trade associations, and private businesses—especially those in financial services.
Curriculum consists of 66 credits: 36 MBA credits (18 Flex MBA Business Foundations, 18 Business Electives) and up to 18 credits from the MS in Applied Economics counted toward MBA electives. Core economics courses include Microeconomic Theory, Macroeconomic Theory, Econometrics, and an advanced econometrics elective, plus 6 further electives. Students may also pursue up to two business specializations via electives, though this is optional.
Both degrees are awarded upon completion of requirements, which can be pursued simultaneously.
