The MRes Molecular Plant and Microbial Sciences at Imperial College London is a 12-month research-intensive master’s programme based at the South Kensington campus. The course centres on two independent research projects in topics such as plant genetic engineering, development, plant-microbe and -pest interactions, metabolic engineering, and more. Alongside lab research, students participate in seminars, advanced lectures, and skills workshops. The programme is designed for those aiming at a research career or subsequent PhD, and training covers experimental design, data analysis, critical review, and communication skills. The total expected workload is 2250 hours, primarily focused on independent research and project work.
