This broad-ranging programme examines how societies respond to global challenges resulting from social, demographic and economic change, addressing issues such as poverty, migration and globalisation. The programme takes an international, interdisciplinary, and applied approach, exploring policy development and implementation in various country contexts and considering the role of governments, NGOs, families, and markets. Students following the general stream study the core concepts, issues, actors, and debates shaping social and public policy globally. Optional courses allow further specialisation in areas such as educational policy, crime and justice, social development, and social security.
