This interdisciplinary undergraduate programme at LSE combines rigorous study of international social and public policy with economics. Students learn to apply economic concepts to real-world policy issues, exploring questions around poverty, public welfare, globalisation, and the economic implications of social policies. The curriculum covers both macroeconomics (national and global economic success) and microeconomics (the interactions between firms, governments, and individuals), and studies how countries around the world approach funding, health care, education, and social services. The programme consists of 12 units over three years, including core courses in social policy, economics, quantitative methods, and a third-year dissertation. Graduates are prepared for careers in government, NGOs, international organisations, and related fields.
