The Bachelor of Arts in Korean Language and Literature at Yonsei University’s College of Liberal Arts provides comprehensive education in the Korean language and its literature, both classical and modern. The program produces professionals with expertise in linguistics, literature analysis, and Korean culture, targeting roles in education, publishing, cultural content, translation, and academia. The curriculum is structured to begin with foundational courses (e.g., 'Understanding Korean Literature,' 'What Is Literature?'), followed by advanced and elective classes in linguistic, literary, and cultural studies. Students will obtain deep understanding and critical appreciation of Korea’s literary heritage, its language structure, and their places in contemporary society, equipping them to contribute to the dissemination and development of Korean language and literature in the global context. The department has a long history, tracing its first BA degree conferral to 1952, and as of 2025, hosts 13 full-time professors and approximately 305 undergraduate students.
