The Justice and Civil Leadership (JCL) major at Underwood International College, Yonsei University, is designed to develop future leaders with a keen awareness of and specialized training in justice for individuals and society, both domestically and internationally. The program is interdisciplinary, combining methodologies and value orientations from the humanities and social sciences, including philosophy, politics, economics, and sociology. It also includes training in legal theory, law and society, aiming to cultivate critical civil leadership skills such as normative analysis, judgment, policymaking, administration, and creative problem solving. The curriculum consists of the Integrated Social Sciences Division (ISSD) core common curriculum and specialized courses in JCL, requiring 42 credit-hours. Required courses include 'Introduction to Justice and Civil Leadership,' 'Moral Reasoning and Critical Judgment,' 'Social Justice: Theory, Policy, and Law,' and a choice among several foundational courses. The program is conducted in English and aims to prepare graduates for leadership roles in public discourse, government, NGOs, private sector, and academia.
