The Bachelor of Arts in Public Humanities at CUHK is a pioneering program formed by merging the university's strengths in Cultural Studies and Cultural Management. It integrates critical cultural theory and the practical know-how of cultural management, focusing on cultural practices, research, knowledge transfer, and public engagement. The program aims to foster a new generation of cultural mediators and professionals equipped for challenges of contemporary society. Students develop critical and creative thinking, deep understanding of culture, heritage, and the arts, with skills in communication, public collaboration, research, and policy-making. Emphasis is placed on global citizenship, community building, and sustainable cultural enterprise. As of 2024–2025, this is globally the first such BA program, refocusing from theory-only to real-world, socially engaged practice, incorporating diverse approaches to publicness and humanities.
