The Double Major Programme in Chinese Language and Literature and Translation at CUHK Faculty of Arts, introduced in 2022/23, offers rigorous training in both the theory and practice of Chinese-English (C↔E) translation. Students gain an in-depth understanding of the Chinese language, linguistics, and classical and modern literature, while building professional competence in translation. The curriculum includes a critical study of literature, language structure, phonology, grammar, fiction, and creative writing, alongside advanced translation techniques and cross-cultural skills. Students must complete at least 90 units, with core and elective courses for both majors, preparing graduates for work in cultural, educational, or professional translation contexts.
