The BA in Japanese Studies at the Faculty of Arts, CUHK is an intensive and rigorous undergraduate programme focused on both Japanese language and the study of Japanese society and culture. Students are immersed in a cross-cultural curriculum that includes language courses at various levels, studies in Japanese history, pop culture, literature, management, and philosophy. All third-year students spend an academic year studying at one of CUHK's 20+ partner universities in Japan, where they complete a field research project. In the fourth year, students return to CUHK to write an academic thesis using research completed in Japan. Students can choose from three specialisation streams: Business and Management, Japan in Global Perspective, and Japanese Language and Linguistics. The programme also offers double major options, summer internships, and exchange opportunities. Graduates are prepared for international careers or further study in fields related to Japanese language, culture, and business.
