The Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics and Modern Languages at the Faculty of Arts, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, provides a rigorous training in contemporary linguistic theory, language analysis, and the scientific study of language structure, use, and acquisition. Students explore the universal properties of language, language diversity, language and mind, and language in social contexts. They also benefit from interdisciplinary connections across the humanities, cognitive science, and information technology. The program enhances bilingual and multilingual awareness and offers practical electives in psycholinguistics, neurolinguistics, and language applications. Students have options for double majors (e.g., Linguistics & Translation or Linguistics & Psychology), as well as opportunities to participate in a dual degree program with Peking University (2 years at CUHK, 2 years at Peking University), broadening academic exposure and future career prospects. The curriculum includes advanced modules in phonetics, phonology, syntax, semantics, bilingualism, language disorders, and modern languages. Language and culture immersion programs are offered each summer in Europe and East Asia.
