The Urban Studies Programme at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) is a 4-year interdisciplinary undergraduate programme that leads to a Bachelor of Social Science degree. It is jointly organized by the School of Architecture and the Department of Geography and Resource Management. The curriculum is designed to help students explore the complexities of urbanization, equipping them with theories, skills, and practices in urban planning, design, sustainability, governance, and analysis. Students can declare a concentration in Urban Planning and Design, Urban Environment, Urban Policy and Governance, or Smart Sustainable Cities. The program is accredited by both the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI), preparing graduates for professional and global careers in urban-related fields. The teaching combines lectures, tutorials, fieldwork, site investigations, and overseas exchange opportunities, with a strong emphasis on sustainable and people-centered urban development.
