The BSSc in Data Science and Policy Studies (DSPS) is an interdisciplinary undergraduate programme at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Faculty of Social Science, blending data science and policy analysis. The curriculum equips students with quantitative and qualitative skills, including advanced programming, machine learning, statistics, AI, computer simulations, AR/VR applications, social network analysis, and natural language processing. Students learn to apply these skills in diverse domains—government, public policy, sociology, communication, economics, urban studies, and more—by designing their own concentration through elective and multidisciplinary courses. Experiential learning is a core aspect, with compulsory internships, capstone projects, and opportunities for overseas exchange, preparing graduates for careers as policy analysts, consultants, data scientists, and public decision-makers across public and private sectors.
