The Master of Medical Imaging (MMI) at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University is designed to develop professionals with comprehensive theoretical knowledge and practical skills to become entry-level diagnostic radiographers. The program uniquely emphasises clinical competency with 1,344 hours of practicum in Hospital Authority departments, mandatory for eventual accreditation by the Hong Kong Radiographers Board. The curriculum (91 credits) covers foundational sciences (anatomy, physiology, physics, pathology), advanced imaging techniques (CT, MRI, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, interventional radiology), informatics, healthcare research, and legal or ethical frameworks. Students gain substantial problem-solving, research, and data literacy skills to meet evolving clinical demands. Graduates are eligible for local diagnostic radiographer registration and can pursue clinical, industry, and research careers locally and internationally, subject to relevant board policies.
