The LLM in Chinese and Comparative Law at City University of Hong Kong School of Law is designed for students seeking an in-depth understanding of Chinese law through comparative study with other legal systems. The programme is structured to develop expertise in Chinese law in a global context, emphasizing issues such as constitutional and administrative law, intellectual property, company law, trade and investment, competition law, and environmental law from both Chinese and comparative perspectives. The stream requires completion of 24 credit units: 12 from required electives—covering topics like Chinese IP Law, Constitutional Law, Environmental Law, Comparative Law theory, and others—and 12 from electives chosen from designated LLM/JD/ArbDR courses. The program offers courses taught by internationally recognized legal scholars and aims to train legal professionals, officials, and academics to work with China's legal system from a comparative and international standpoint.
