UCL’s School of Slavonic and East European Studies (SSEES) offers undergraduate degrees that combine area studies of Russia, Central and Eastern Europe with study of an East European language. Students typically take core modules on the politics, sociology and international relations of Russia and Eastern Europe and can study an East European language to proficiency, benefiting from the resources of the SSEES Library and specialist teaching. Related BA programmes at UCL (e.g., Politics, Sociology and East European Studies; Economics and Business with East European Studies) explicitly integrate regional studies with a choice to learn Russian or another East European language; these programme pages for 2025 entry confirm the integrated area-and-language model within SSEES.
