The Master of Science in Geological Sciences at Cornell University’s College of Engineering offers comprehensive training in earth sciences, with broad foundational coursework, fieldwork, and research. The program is highly flexible, allowing students to work with a special committee to tailor coursework and research across disciplinary areas. Specialities include, but are not limited to, geophysics, geochemistry, petrology, marine geology, planetary science, and energy resources. Students complete major and minor requirements and must produce a thesis based on original research. Research opportunities span from tectonics, planetary studies, biogeochemistry, volcanology, and marine science to applied engineering. Many interdisciplinary collaborations and fieldwork sites worldwide are available.
