The Bachelor of Science in Earth & Atmospheric Sciences at Cornell University (College of Agriculture and Life Sciences) is an interdisciplinary major that integrates geological, atmospheric, oceanic, and biogeochemical knowledge to address global environmental challenges. Students can choose from four concentrations: Environmental Science, Geological Science, Atmospheric Science, and Ocean Science. The curriculum covers fundamental earth system components—air, life, rock, and water—embracing topics such as paleontology, earthquakes, volcanos, geophysics, climate change, and ocean ecosystems. There is a strong emphasis on fieldwork, research opportunities, and global travel. Graduates are well-prepared for careers in energy, environment, government, consulting, or for graduate study in earth/atmospheric sciences and related fields. Program highlights include dedicated faculty support, small class sizes, and hands-on research.
