The Bachelor of Science in Health Care Policy (HCP) at the Cornell Jeb E. Brooks School of Public Policy is a rigorous interdisciplinary undergraduate program merging social and natural sciences. It prepares students for leadership in health policy, including careers in health industry organizations and government, and offers two tracks: a premedical track suitable for those pursuing medical school, and a non-premedical track. The curriculum emphasizes understanding health care delivery and policy from economic, sociological, and demographic perspectives—including health equity and social determinants of health. Students develop robust analytical and data analysis skills, applying theories to real-world policy issues. Sample courses include Economics of Risky Health Behaviors, Health Disparities, Pharmaceutical Management and Policy, and US Health Care System. Academic standards require a minimum 2.0 GPA and 12 credits per semester, with specific PUBPOL course requirements for first-year and transfer students. Completing first-year writing seminars and passing courses in intermediate microeconomics and statistics for public policy are required. Graduates join a diverse health policy research community and are prepared for further graduate study or careers at the intersection of health, data, and policy.
