Princeton University's A.B. in Theater, offered through the Lewis Center for the Arts in the College of Arts and Sciences, provides a comprehensive undergraduate education emphasizing the creation, study, and performance of theater and music theater. The program is intensely collaborative and welcomes students with or without previous experience. Courses encompass writing, performing, directing, music directing, design, dramaturgy, performance history and theory, and criticism. Theater is approached as both a creative discipline and a lens for understanding cultures, history, and society. Princeton’s program fosters original student work and professional engagement, offers extensive co-curricular, workshop, and internship opportunities, and partners with leading theaters and artists. Students participate in a wide range of theatrical productions and are encouraged to study abroad or engage in summer research and practice.
