The MSN Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program at Duke University School of Nursing prepares graduates to deliver high-level, family-centered care for children with acute, chronic, and critical illnesses. It focuses on expert acute, emergency, and hospital-based pediatric care across the newborn to young adult age range. Students engage in rigorous clinical placements totaling 616 hours, interprofessional team leadership training, and advanced, evidence-based coursework. Graduates of this program serve as leaders in patient care, education, advocacy, and pediatric research. Coursework covers advanced physiology, health assessment, clinical pharmacology, research, population health, leadership, and ethics. The curriculum equips students to manage complex pediatric cases and practice in hospitals, specialty clinics, and emergency settings.
