This undergraduate program at Duke University is interdisciplinary and enables students from any major, especially those in engineering, to gain skills and knowledge in innovation and entrepreneurship. The program is not a stand-alone bachelor's degree, but a university-recognized Certificate in Innovation & Entrepreneurship that supplements the student's main undergraduate degree. The curriculum combines foundations of entrepreneurship, innovation, product management, design thinking, and experiential startup creation. Coursework includes I&E 101CN (Innovation Entrepreneurial Mindset), capstone projects, and electives across Duke’s departments. Practical experiences include seminars, workshops, founder workshops, startup competitions, and the Duke in Silicon Valley program, providing direct exposure to venture creation and the global innovation ecosystem. Students complete a capstone project and are encouraged to register for both semesters of design-focused courses. I&E students engage in real-world problem solving, often alongside Duke Engineering and other schools, and benefit from faculty and alumni mentorship. This certificate is highly interdisciplinary and open to any undergraduate, with many Duke Engineering students participating.
