The Master of Arts in Special Education at University of Arizona’s College of Education prepares graduates to teach, advocate, supervise, or plan programs for individuals with disabilities and special abilities across diverse settings. The program allows students to choose from five specializations, including Mild to Moderate Disabilities, Severe and Multiple Disabilities, and Visual Impairment, supporting the development of expertise in assessment, behavior intervention, curriculum modification, and inclusive practices. Classes are available both in-person and online for maximum flexibility. The program does not require a thesis, but students must pass a written comprehensive examination. Graduates are eligible for Arizona teaching certification, with career paths including special education teacher, inclusion specialist, program coordinator, and more.
