The Bachelor of Arts in Africana Studies at the University of Arizona explores the historical and contemporary experiences of Africana peoples, examining how gender, class, race, and global conditions shape those experiences. Students select from three emphases: African American History, Culture & Aesthetics; Comparative Global African Diaspora; or Performance, Media, & Digital Africana Studies. The interdisciplinary program covers literature, history, culture, film, technology, arts, and politics, fostering skills in critical thinking, writing, public speaking, creativity, and leadership.
