The Plant Science (PLSC) Bachelor of Science program at the University of Maryland College Park’s College of Agriculture and Natural Resources provides a strong foundation combining fundamental science with applied technical classes. Students select from three concentrations: Plant Biology (preparing for research or postgraduate study, focusing on biotechnology, genetics, molecular biology, plant pathology, conservation biology, and ecology), Turf & Golf Course Management (emphasizing industry practice and management in turfgrass and sports turf contexts), and Urban Forestry (focusing on urban tree and green infrastructure management). The curriculum includes basic and advanced coursework in agronomy, biochemistry, ecology, genetics, molecular biology, plant physiology, and management, providing students versatility for careers in research, industry, public agencies, or advanced study. The program is noted for its modern facilities, close industry and governmental collaboration, and a strong record of graduate placement in related fields.
