The Bachelor of Arts in Communication at the University of Maryland College Park, offered through the College of Arts and Humanities, provides a comprehensive education in the history, processes, and effects of human communication. Students choose from general Communication Studies or a specialization, and take coursework in communication foundations, research methods, theory, leadership and social change, diversity and inclusion, and applied communication. The program emphasizes effective communicative practices, critical thinking, and prepares graduates for a range of careers in business, government, public relations, media, nonprofit management, and further study. Students benefit from experiential learning through internships, research, and access to Washington, D.C. resources. Alumni regularly pursue graduate studies or enter diverse professional fields.
