The Bachelor of Science in Secondary Science Education at the University of Maryland College Park, offered through the College of Education, prepares students for certification as middle and high school science teachers (grades 7-12). Candidates select a content specialization (Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Physics, or Agriculture) and complete both a STEM major and a professional education major. The program integrates rigorous coursework in science content with pedagogical training, including student teaching internships, preparing graduates for licensure in Maryland and other states through reciprocity agreements. Secondary Math and Science Education students can participate in the innovative Terrapin Teachers program to earn their STEM degree and teacher certification.
