The Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at the University of Maryland College Park School of Public Health provides a comprehensive, interdisciplinary understanding of human movement and physical activity. The curriculum covers the historical, cultural, developmental, and biophysical bases of movement across populations and lifespans. Students gain knowledge in physiology, biomechanics, cognitive motor behavior, and the socio-cultural and environmental factors influencing health and performance. The program prepares graduates for careers in physical therapy, occupational therapy, medicine, sports-related professions, fitness training, public health, and recreation, as well as further graduate study. Students engage in both conceptual and experiential learning, with 46 credits in Kinesiology, 18 supporting credits, 24 credits in general education, and 32 electives required.
