The Master of Science in Planetary Science at California Institute of Technology's Division of Geological and Planetary Sciences is designed to provide broad training in fundamental science with specialized coursework in planetary science and related fields. Graduate students undertake interdisciplinary studies, leveraging modern laboratory facilities and field research opportunities. The program includes coursework in planetary formation, dynamics, atmospheres, interiors, and surfaces, along with general geology and geobiology. Most students enrolled in the PhD program may be awarded a master's degree when they satisfy the basic Caltech requirement of 135 units.
