UC San Diego's new MURP program is a professional master's degree offered by the Department of Urban Studies and Planning within the School of Social Sciences. The curriculum prioritizes social and spatial justice, climate change mitigation and adaptation, and multinational/regional planning, especially addressing border-region challenges. The program requires seven foundational courses in planning theory and methods, coursework in research methods and human settlements, a practicum in planning or design, electives, and completion of either a master's thesis or a capstone project.
