UC San Diego's Bachelor of Arts in Classical Studies is an interdisciplinary undergraduate program examining the cultures of Ancient Greece and Rome, from the time of Homer to St. Augustine. The program is structured around two tracks: Language Emphasis and Cultures Emphasis. The Language Emphasis track focuses on intensive study of Greek and Latin, while the Cultures Emphasis provides a broader exploration through history, literature, anthropology, philosophy, political science, theater, dance, and visual arts. Students complete foundational language courses then progress to twelve upper-division courses, split between language and elective courses from approved disciplines. The program encourages analysis of ancient texts within their literary, historical, and intellectual context, using resources across multiple departments within the School of Arts & Humanities. Honors are available for high-achieving students. Transfer students are welcome.
