The Bachelor of Science in Cognitive Science with Specialization in Machine Learning and Neural Computation is designed for students interested in computational and mathematical approaches to modeling cognition, constructing cognitive systems, theoretical neuroscience, software engineering, and data science. The program combines foundational training in cognitive science with upper-division electives covering neural networks, artificial intelligence, advanced data analysis, and computational neuroscience. Students will gain practical and theoretical expertise required to excel in graduate research, industry roles in data science and AI, and interdisciplinary applications of cognitive modeling such as neural data science and brain-computer interfaces. Specialization courses include supervised machine learning algorithms, neural signal processing, reinforcement learning, and courses in computer science and engineering related to AI and neural computation. The specialization is optional but recommended for students with interests in these fields. The program is housed within the School of Social Sciences, not the School of Arts & Humanities.
