The Bachelor of Arts in Cinematic Arts at UC San Diego's School of Arts & Humanities is an interdisciplinary undergraduate program that combines film studies with practical filmmaking. Students learn the fundamentals of filmmaking—including cinematography, directing, editing, animation, visual effects, sound, and screenwriting—while gaining historical and critical perspectives on cinema from the United States and around the world. The program emphasizes both theoretical analysis and hands-on production, culminating in a thesis project and real-world experience through internships or student-led projects. Graduates emerge with skills for both scholarly careers in film studies and creative work in the film, television, and digital media industries.
