The B.S. Artificial Intelligence (AI) program at UC San Diego's School of Computing, Information and Data Sciences (SCIDS) is designed to provide students with robust foundational and applied training in artificial intelligence. Students build expertise in programming, data structures, algorithms, AI, machine learning, and data ethics. The curriculum includes upper-division core classes in artificial intelligence as well as specialized electives in topics such as computer vision, natural language processing, and robotics. Application-focused courses are drawn not only from Computer Science and Engineering, but also Data Science, Cognitive Science, Mathematics, and Philosophy, emphasizing interdisciplinary training and real-world experiential learning through projects and industry partnerships. The major grounds AI studies in societal and professional contexts, preparing graduates for emerging technology careers or advanced research.
