The B.S. in Bioengineering: Biotechnology at the Jacobs School of Engineering, University of California San Diego, prepares students for careers in the biotechnology industry and further education at the graduate level. The curriculum provides a strong engineering foundation, emphasizing biochemical process applications and core topics such as biochemistry, cellular physiology, metabolism, kinetics, biotransport, biosystems, bioseparations, tissue engineering, and bioengineering design. Students learn to apply bioengineering and physicochemical principles to cellular and molecular biology, enabling the development of molecules, cells, and tissues to advance human health. The program is ABET-accredited and fosters development for industry practice, research, medical school, and continued professional growth.
