The Sociology—Law and Society BA program at UC San Diego's School of Social Sciences provides a comprehensive curriculum on the intersection of sociological theory and the legal system. Students explore social forces shaping law, the role of the legal system, and issues such as crime, social deviance, justice, and social control. The major is especially suited to those interested in careers related to law, criminology, public policy, or social research. Students complete four lower-division and twelve upper-division courses in sociology, with at least five upper-division courses focused on law and society topics (e.g., sociology of law, crime and society, law and workplace, law and society in China, criminal punishment).
