The Master of Urban and Regional Planning (MURP) at Michigan State University's College of Agriculture and Natural Resources prepares students for professional planning roles in both the public and private sectors. The curriculum emphasizes the development of both broad planning knowledge and specialized skills in areas such as urban design, land use regulation, environmental planning, real estate, housing, economic and community development, transportation, and public policy. Students are guided by faculty with recognized expertise in these fields and are immersed in research-driven and solution-focused study. The program is accredited by the Planning Accreditation Board and offers both thesis (Plan A) and non-thesis (Plan B) options. Graduates are trained to assume intermediate-level professional responsibilities upon completion.
