The MFA in Studio Art at Michigan State University is a fully-funded, studio-intensive program designed for artists seeking advanced research skills and critical discourse across multiple disciplines. The curriculum allows students to focus within or across traditional areas such as ceramics, painting, sculpture, photography, and new media, while encouraging experimentation, cross-disciplinary research, and community engagement. Students benefit from wide engagement with faculty, regular studio visits from over 45 visiting artists and scholars, departmental and museum exhibition opportunities, and a robust interdisciplinary MSU campus network. All MFA students receive studio space and tuition waivers plus stipends. The program is designed to produce thoughtful, critically engaged artists able to contribute to contemporary art and society.
