The Master of Science in Environmental Science and Policy at Michigan State University, offered through the College of Natural Science (via the Environmental Science and Policy Program, ESPP), is designed for graduate students pursuing interdisciplinary advanced studies in environmental science and policy. The program emphasizes foundational knowledge in environmental law, economics, and policy, as well as research opportunities addressing cross-cutting issues in environmental science and policy, including water resources, food justice, energy transitions, and natural resource governance. The curriculum combines required coursework in policy analysis and the social dimensions of environmental issues with elective courses and research projects. Students participate in research workshops, symposia, and benefit from faculty expertise across a broad array of environmental issues. The program aims to equip graduates for leadership roles in governmental agencies, NGOs, academia, consulting, and industry related to environmental management and policy.
