The Master of Music in Conducting (Wind) at Michigan State University College of Music is an intensive, highly competitive graduate program designed for those aspiring to professional careers in wind conducting. The program is led by renowned conductors and focuses on three essential skills: score study, pedagogically sound rehearsal techniques, and artistic leadership. Students benefit from private lessons with conducting faculty, podium time with various instrumental ensembles—including wind ensembles—and collaborative experiences across conducting disciplines. The curriculum also includes training in repertoire selection, rehearsal strategies, literature, and professional development in a supportive, inclusive environment. Graduates are prepared for leadership roles in wind conducting at the professional or academic levels. The program is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music.
