The online Rural Public Health concentration at Michigan State University College of Public Health equips students to work as public health leaders and practitioners focused on the needs of rural communities. Students gain an understanding of the unique social, cultural, political, and environmental characteristics shaping health in rural areas, as well as the historical and systemic influences on health equity, healthcare delivery, policy, and advocacy. The program is 100% online, offers asynchronous learning for flexibility, and does not require GRE scores for admission. The curriculum consists of 34 credits of foundational/core public health courses and 9 credits of rural-specific courses, culminating in an applied practice experience and integrative learning project. Graduates are prepared to analyze rural health issues, propose and advocate policies, and lead collaborative health initiatives.
