The Bachelor of Landscape Architecture program at Michigan State University, established in 1898, is the nation’s first undergraduate academic program in landscape architecture. The curriculum balances design, technology, art, science, and ideology toward creating sustainable and resilient environments. Accredited by the Landscape Architecture Accreditation Board (LAAB) since 1952, the program integrates theory and applied studio courses in design, environmental perception, plant materials, site planning, and urban and regional design. Students are prepared for licensure and professional practice through immersive studio experiences and community-based projects, enabling them to contribute to diverse and impactful design challenges at local and global scales.
