Michigan State University’s Bachelor of Science in Animal Science, offered by the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, prepares students for diverse careers by providing a strong science foundation paired with hands-on animal experience. The curriculum includes scientific principles of biology as applied to animal agriculture and covers genetics, nutrition, anatomy and physiology, and management. Students can choose concentrations such as Animal Industry, Animal Biology/Pre-Veterinary Medicine, Companion & Exotic Animal Biology, Dairy Industry, and Equine Industry. Practical experience with a broad range of species—including beef and dairy cattle, horses, poultry, swine, sheep, and companion animals—is integral to the program. Graduates successfully pursue further study in veterinary medicine or graduate programs, or careers in research, agribusiness, animal management, public relations, finance, and more.
