The Bachelor of Arts in Women’s and Gender Studies at Michigan State University's College of Arts and Letters is an interdisciplinary degree designed to provide current knowledge about women and gender from comparative, transnational, historical, and global perspectives. The curriculum emphasizes the intersections of gender with social identities such as race, ethnicity, class, ability, and sexual orientation. Students can choose one of the following concentrations: gender, race, ethnicity and history; sexuality and conflict/violence; gender and arts and humanities; or gender applied (health, urban and public policy). The program encourages applied and experiential learning, including internships and capstone projects, preparing graduates for diverse careers—in education, advocacy, government, law, healthcare, and more. Many graduates also pursue advanced study in relevant professional, academic, or policy fields.
