Michigan State University’s Bachelor of Arts in Special Education is designed as a preprofessional program preparing students for dual certification: PK–12 Special Education (in Learning Disabilities) and Elementary General Education (either PK–3 or Grades 3–6). The program integrates coursework in child development, learning disabilities, inclusive teaching practices, and more than 1,000 hours of hands-on classroom experience, including a full-year teaching internship. The curriculum prioritizes both theory and applied practice, helping candidates become effective teachers in inclusive and specialized educational settings. The program is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation.
