The Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Cultures and Politics at James Madison College, Michigan State University, is an interdisciplinary program that examines the intersections of culture and politics in global, transnational, and national contexts. Students gain analytical skills to address complex global issues by studying how cultural dynamics shape power relations and are impacted by political and economic forces. The curriculum includes core seminars on race, gender, media, nation, globalization, advocacy, and public health, and emphasizes critical, comparative, and transnational approaches. Graduates are prepared for careers in government, NGOs, media, cultural institutions, and graduate studies in law, policy, health, and related fields. Housed in the residential James Madison College, the program offers limited enrollment for a close-knit academic experience.
