The Bachelor of Science in Fisheries and Wildlife at Michigan State University prepares students to understand, conserve, and manage wild animal populations and their habitats. The curriculum emphasizes ecology, biodiversity, conservation, management strategies, and the relationships between humans and natural resources. The program includes required foundational courses in wildlife and fisheries management, population analysis, ecology, and several advanced electives. Students gain hands-on experience through labs, fieldwork, internships, as well as opportunities for independent research or a senior thesis. Graduates typically pursue careers in state and federal natural resource agencies, conservation organizations, research, private consulting, or advanced study. Lyman Briggs College students may pursue this major as an affiliate program, fulfilling both LBC's science core and the specific Fisheries and Wildlife major requirements.
