The Environmental Public Health concentration at NYU School of Global Public Health develops a deep understanding of current global policy and practice and the ability to advance sustainable, equitable, scalable solutions to environmental challenges. The curriculum emphasizes Systems Science, Applied Global Health, and Sustainability, preparing graduates to analyze and manage complex environmental health issues in research and applied practice. Students gain competencies in contaminant pathways, exposure and risk assessment, evaluation of environmental health literature (epidemiology, toxicology, engineering, medicine), control of environmental hazards, and understanding national/international regulatory programs. All students in this track take courses such as Fundamentals of Global Health and Development, Climate Change and Global Public Health, Global Health Disaster Preparedness & Response, and Environmental Health Assessments & Interventions, plus approved electives to tailor expertise.
